High Sierra external display no video input after waking up from sleep

Summary:
Sometimes when I wake my MacBook Air from sleep and connect DELL UP2716D to miniDP port there is no image on Dell display. System Preferences -> Displays on MBA screen shows Dell display is connected. Dell display displays 
"no signal" message.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Wake MacBook Air from sleep
2. Connect  DELL UP2716D

Expected Results:
Screen shows my desktop as expected

Actual Results:
Sometimes systems detects Dell display switches configuration but there is no image on Dell screen. Disconnection and reconnecting display does not help. I have to reboot macOS to fix this.
