Can't create files with a leading ".." on drives mounted via Time Capsule

Summary: Any attempt to create a file with a leading ".." fails. The result is creation of a file that can be seen in Finder, but when viewed from the command line (eg with ls) errors are generated. For example; ls: ..hi: No such file or directory Steps to Reproduce: In my case I can reproduce the problem as follows, however other users have reported that the problem occurs more broadly on afp network shares. Plug a USB drive into the usb port on a time capsule. Connect to the time capsule Attempt to create a file with a leading ".." from terminal. (eg touch "..hi" ) Time Capsule is using firmware 7.5.2 (75200.14) Wireless security is WPA2 Mac address access control is not enabled Expected Results: Creation of a normal empty file Actual Results: File is not created correctly. It appears in finder, but gives the following error using ls in terminal ls: ..hi: No such file or directory Regression: Notes: Many users have experienced similar problems.
