The iPad needs a way to protect private data when sharing the device with others. If you hand the device to another person so that they can play a game, browse the web, or look at your photos, you're putting your private data at risk. What about a "Guest Screen" that can be accessed without entering the screen lock passcode?

"iPad needs multiple users, or at least a guest mode"
It's also a duplicate of 7584426, it seems

With my kids using my iPad for games and browsing pictures, and me using it for email and work etc... I am always worried that they mistakenly send an email or erase some important data, particularly the smaller kid. In general, I would also love to be able to leave the iPad in the hands of a friend without having to share all the info that's in there.
Even more than OS X, the iPad begs for multi-user access. It would seem very straightforward to have that included in the login screen, plenty of space to put a list of users there. The pin could then be different for different users. There would always be one "active" user at a time, and that user would be getting the notifications, and that user would have background tasks running. But not the other users. In other word, no fast user switching, but that's a good trade-off for such a device.

I think something like multiple users would work here... Then the iPad could be shared around the family for example. But perhaps you mean you want an ability to ask for the user's password again when entering certain "areas" of the iPad. (opening mail, for example) This feature (confirm password for sensitive areas access) could be combined with a time delay same as the delay you cAn set when turning on passcode lock (require passcode after [x] minutes)
