Summary: Can't run an App in the iOS simulator. Xcode acts like the app is actually running, but nothing happens. The Stop button is enabled, but doesn't respond.

Steps to Reproduce: happens sometimes (once every 20 ?) when I hit the build and run button.

Expected Results: The app is launched in the simulator and runs normally. I can close the task with the Stop button in Xcode.

Actual Results: The build and run process seems to be frozen, but I still can edit code and navigate. I can't stop a running task in Xcode, or build and run again. The app in the iOS simulator is not launched, but I can use the simulator. When I quit Xcode then (cmd Q), it prompts me that it needs to close the task, which it does and quit without any issue.

Regression: In Xcode 4.2.1, sometimes the simulator wasn't launching the app after a build and run, but I was able to stop and launch again.

Notes: Since the only solution to solve this for me is to quit Xcode, it's kind of annoying. Thanks of your help!

still exists in Xcode 4.6 (4H127) on Lion

My Actual Results vary slightly. - Can't stop a running task in Xcode - Can't build again - Can't run again - Pressing "Stop" presents a dialog asking me if i want to stop the current task, but if click on "Stop Task" button, it becomes disabled, the dialog remains, and nothing else happens. - If i "Quit", it asks me if i want to "Stop Tasks"; if i say yes, then Xcode becomes completely unresponsive, and i have to perform "Force Quit" on Xcode

my workaround for this used to be to change to a different simulator (from iPhone 6.0 to iPhone 5.1), and that would start the simulator as 5.1 without having to leave Xcode. but as of 4.6, that workaround no longer works, and "Force Quit" Xcode is my only option.

still exists in Xcode 4.4 on ML!

This might help

Sometimes this happens to me, I quit the simulator, go back to Xcode, all of a sudden it runs the Simulator - like an old terminal where you used x-on, x-off.
