OpenGL in Xcode 9 iOS simulator is unusably slow

Summary: Using OpenGL in iOS simulator with Xcode 9 is so slow it is impossible to use. I am unable to create update for iPhone X of my navigation app because it uses OpenGL all the time. Steps to Reproduce: Launch app using OpenGL in iOS simulator and observe the performance. Apple Maps is also affected. Expected Results: OpenGL has reasonable performance, e.g. at least 10 fps for Apple Maps type of application. Actual Results: Application similar to Apple maps performance is about 0.1fps Version/Build: Xcode 9 GM, iOS 11 simulator (iPhone 8 and iPhone X), macOS X 10.12.6 Configuration: base MacBook Pro 15" 2015
